Santi Tafarella

Santi Tafarella (1890-1962)

Santino (Santi) Tafarella was born in Turino, Italy.  He came to the United States through Ellis Island in 1920.  He was “first chair” trumpet and cornet player at many Carnegie Hall Programs.  He had a trumpet studio in Brooklyn.  He recorded for Victor, Columbia, RKO, Excellent Record Co. and was the exclusive artist of the Splendor Record Co.  In 1943, he moved to Hollywood, CA.  He worked for Frank Sinatra, composing and arranging music for many of his radio shows. He also arranged and composed music for movies at Universal Studios.  (personal interview with Santi Tafarella, Jr.)

My personal Tafarella records are archived in the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music.
