When Pryor left Sousa’s band in 1903 to start his own band, Zimmy as his friends called him was chosen to fill the difficult spot as trombone soloist with Sousa’s band. He held the chair until 1910. When he left Sousa, he was soloist in many bands including principal trombone of the Columbia Phonograph Co. (Bridges)
