Del Staigers

Delaware (Del) Staigers (1899-1951)

Del Staigers was one of the most brilliant cornet and trumpet soloist of the past.  He was co-soloist with Frank Simon in the Sousa band in 1919.  He was cornet soloist for many years with the famous Goldman Band in New York. Unfortunately, Staigers was an alcoholic and was fired from the Goldman Band.  His favorite solos seemed to be the difficult Bellstedt compositions which indeed furnished an excellent showcase for his technical ability.   He moved to Los Angeles and devoted his time to network radio and studio orchestras.
