(1873-1926)
Spary played in Fay’s Theater Orchestra. He joined the American Band of Providence and played trombone under Herbert L. Clarke when he became the director the band. Spary was not a wizard on the trombone, when it came to great technical display, however he did play many of the solos being featured by others of the period. Spary had many pupils coming to him in Providence, but he was having both marital and drinking problems and didn’t keep them long. His drinking finally effected his brain and was taken to the State Hospital where he died on September 1, 1926. (Bridges)
